UITS Mission
UITS provides leadership, coordination, management, and support to the academic and
administrative computing activities of SPSU. As a service organization, UITS works collaboratively across the University community
to:
UITS Vision
UITS will function in a unified manner in the delivery and maintenance of academic,
administrative, and general campus IT services. Appropriate standards, processes,
and procedures for IT service management and delivery will be followed to meet the
priorities of the University, while keeping the University informational assets secure
and available. UITS will be responsive to the needs of its constituencies, be strategically
aligned with the mission and direction of the University, and function as a unified
services organization.
The Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) provides leadership, coordination,
management, and support for the strategic technology vision of the University. In
response to the UITS mission and vision, the Office of the CIO works to optimize technology
resources to advance the University.

The UITS Information Systems Group supports and maintains enterprise and departmental
level software applications through all phases of the system development life-cycle
process. Working to advance the technology value proposition of data to information
to knowledge, this group is responsible for hardware and software project management,
database system engineering and administration, and technology purchasing and logistics.

The UITS Information Technology Group designs, constructs, and maintains the physical
components of the University’s wireline and wireless networks, data center operations,
and cloud computing infrastructure. Working to achieve a reliable, available, scalable,
and secure network infrastructure and hosting environments, this group is also tasked
with operational support for networked systems administration.

The UITS Technical Support Group builds and maintains physical and virtual learning
spaces on campus and provides desktop support for all administrative computing. Serving
as a single point of contact for technology support needs, this group works with all
University stakeholders to achieve project goals, resolve technical issues, and constantly
enhance all stakeholder’s computing experiences.
