Q: What is the Co-Curricular Transcript?
A: The Co-Curricular Transcript (CCT) is an official Southern Polytechnic State University document that verifies a student’s out-of-classroom involvement and experiences. When coupled with the academic transcript, a holistic representation of the student’s total education, both inside and outside the classroom, will be created.
Q: What types of activities are listed on the Co-Curricular Transcript?
A: The Co-Curricular Transcript lists activities that a student is involved in outside the classroom. These activities could include leadership experiences, professional or educational development, honors/awards, and participation in university-sponsored programs. The CCT will only include experiences entered into OrgSync and verified by the appropriate university official (e.g., Student Life staff, organization advisor, faculty member).
Q: What should I leave off my Co-Curricular Transcript?
A: The Co-Curricular Transcript highlights your involvement on campus without providing too much detail. You should not include things like meeting attendance, event attendance, social activities, study abroad, or intramural athletics. You should also leave off internship and co-op experiences as these are better suited for your resume.
Q: How can I use the Co-Curricular Transcript?
A: Students and alumni can use the C0-Curricular Transcript to complement a resume and cover letter when applying for jobs. The CCT provides a starting point to talk about how a student’s experiences outside the classroom will benefit a potential employer. Students can also use the CCT as a tool to set and assess goals related to their out-of-classroom experiences.
Q: How and when should I begin the Co-Curricular Transcript process?
A: You should start your Co-Curricular Transcript during your first year at SPSU or as soon as possible. This will provide you with a more comprehensive and accurate record of your activities.
Q: Is employment experience included on the Co-Curricular Transcript?
A: No, employment experience is not included on the Co-Curricular Transcript. Employment experience should be listed on your resume. Exceptions to this include involvement as a Resident Assistant or Orientation Leader.
Q: Who do I contact if I have questions or need assistance?
A: Please email Kevin Schwemmin, Coordinator of Student Engagement, at email@example.com or call 678-915-5448.
Q: How do I obtain a copy of my Co-Curricular Transcript?
A: You can request an official copy of your Co-Curricular Transcript through OrgSync. You can also print an unofficial copy of your CCT through OrgSync. Instructions are available on the Student Life webpage.
Q: What is the difference between an academic transcript, a co-curricular transcript, and a resume?
A: A co-curricular transcript lists all of your approved out-of-classroom activities. While some of these activities might also be listed on your resume, the resume is typically focused on work experiences and has limited space for co-curricular activities. An academic transcript is a record of the courses you have taken at SPSU and the grades you earned.
Q: How do I add an activity to my Co-Curricular Transcript?
A: You can add activities to your OrgSync profile through the “My Tools” tab. Once activities are added to your profile, you can select which activities will appear on your Co-Curricular Transcript. More specific instructions are available on the Student life webpage.
Q: Is there a cost for using the Co-Curricular Transcript?
A: There is no cost for using the Co-Curricular Transcript.
