The 2013 Soup Cook-off will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 22nd, 11:30am-1:00pm. Enter a soup and eat for free, or bring $5 cash for 5 samples of soup, plus homemade cornbread, dessert, and drink.
Send entry form to Laura Beth Daws: firstname.lastname@example.org. Bring your crock-pot of hot soup to the Student Center Ballroom on Tuesday morning, Oct. 22nd. Someone will be there all morning to take in your soup and keep it warm. Be sure to remember to pick-up your crock-pot and ladle afterwards. Thanks in advance for your participation in this much-loved SPSU event!
SPSU employees cook original soup recipes to be served to the campus community. For a very low price, non-cooks are invited to enjoy the fruits of these endeavors. Entries are judged by a panel, and prizes are awarded. The event is informal and a lot of fun.
The Soup Cook-off is held each fall, usually in October, as the days get shorter and the nights become colder.
The first Tony Tillman Chili Cook-off was held 1997, to honor the longtime Engineering Technology Dean at SPSU, and founding member of the SCBC. As an outgrowth of the Tony Tillman Chili Cook-Off, the Soup Cook-off was begun to showcase the wonderful soup-making skills of our faculty & staff.
