FAQs

Where is the University Post Office located?

The University Post Office is located in the Joe Mack Student Center on the first floor near the bookstore.

What services are offered by the University Post Office?

The University Post Office offers many of the services that a regular post office offers. This includes, but is not limited to, the selling of stamps, first class mail service, priority mail service and express mail service. The University Post Office also offers domestic money orders. The University Post Office does not offer UPS or FedEx services. Although, if you have a package that is prepaid from Fed Ex or UPS we do have a daily pick up from those services.

How can I pay for the services offered at the University Post Office?

The University Post Office only accepts cash and checks. Money orders can only be paid for using cash.

What time can I pick up my mail at the University Post Office?

Mail is usually placed in the mail boxes around 3:00 PM.

Can I get mail forwarded to me by the University Post Office after I leave SPSU Housing?

Unfortunately, mail is unable to be forwarded by the University Post Office. Mailboxes on the campus at SPSU are owned by SPSU and are not the property of the United States Postal Service. Because the mailboxes are "privately" owned, the MSC number is not recognized by the United States Postal Service. Mail that is addressed to the MSC number cannot be differentiated by the United States Postal Service from general university mail. Students and housing residents leaving SPSU and/or university housing must supply a forwarding address to all relevant individuals and businesses.

How do I receive a package that is shipped to the University Post Office?

The University Post Office accepts packages from all the major carriers. Once a package comes in, an email will be sent to registered students with a proper email address indicating that a parcel has arrived. After the email is sent the package or parcel must be picked up within 30 days. Another email will be sent out shortly before the 30 day deadline as a reminder that a package is waiting for pick up. If the package is not picked up by the 30 day deadline, the package will be returned to sender.

What do I need to pick up a package at the University Post Office?

Your student ID or other photo ID is required to pick up a package at the University Post Office.

What will happen to my mail if I do get mail and do not have a university mail box?

The University Post Office will make every effort to notify you by email if mail arrives for you. There may be delays in notification at the beginning of a semester. Mail will be held for a 30 day period; after 30 days mail will be returned to the sender.

If I do not have a university mail box can I receive a package at the University Post Office?

Yes, since packages are sorted differently than regular enveloped mail, the University Post Office can accept the package for you as long as you have an SPSU email address.
