    About SPSU Physics

    Intro Physics Lab

We offer a variety of degree programs in Physics that provide students great opportunities in education and industry that are on the cutting edge of science, engineering, and technology with very attractive flexibility.  Students may choose from
    ➢    BS in Physics
              o    With General track
o    Electrical Engineering Physics track (new)
o    Mechanical Engineering Physics track (new)
              o    Physics Education Track (new)
    ➢    BA in Physics

With the proper choice of minor field of study, our physics majors are well prepared for higher education or employment in diverse areas in science and/or engineering positions in industry. The BS in education program comes with the certification to teach in the state of GA.

We offer small, personalized upper level physics classes with maximum of 15 students and these classes are taught by our outstanding distinguished faculty holding Ph.D. degrees in different areas of physics, and their combined professional academic experience make them excellent teachers and mentors. All the introductory courses are taught by faculty members. Our laboratory classes are offered separately to offer more flexibility for students while giving hand on activities that are necessary for conceptual understanding.

Our department offers our students opportunities to participate in undergraduate research and outreach programs. We have a very active Society of Physics Students (SPSUSPS) that organizes variety of events where students can actively involve and enjoy while contributing to the society as a student.

Most of our students continue the study Physics at the graduate level and those who aspire to industry positions that are on the cutting edge of science and engineering technology find that a degree in Physics from SPSU is an excellent choice. Our Physics degree offers students the flexibility to add a minor field of study to the Physics major, which allows them to diversify their experiences and opens up a wider world of career opportunity.

The listing of companies that have hired SPSU graduates with a degree in Physics is long: It includes Argonne Labs, BellSouth Mobility, Cape International Management, Inc., Georgia Department of Agriculture, Institute of Paper Science and Technology, Inc., Law Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc., NASA, National Science Foundation, the Southern Company, and many others.

We would love to have you in our program.
