Update on discussions about the "New U"
The discussions about the consolidation of Kennesaw State University and Southern Polytechnic State University have moved forward on several fronts over the last few weeks. These include 1) expanding the Consolidation Implementation Committee, 2) creating 81 Operational Working Groups, and 3) establishing a new website that will be the primary source of information about the consolidation process.

Starting the planning and organizational process for the "New U"
The Implementation Committee for the Southern Polytechnic State University-Kennesaw State University consolidation has started discussion about guiding principles, developing mission and vision statements for the “New U,” and identifying the operational working groups that will help figure out the many details. These working groups will have abundant opportunities for involvement for members of both university communities.

The Chancellor's Charge to the SPSU-KSU Implementation Team
Chancellor Huckaby has met with the Consolidation Implementation Team, with 14 representatives each from both Southern Polytechnic and Kennesaw State, to give us his charge and some guidelines for how to begin discussions about institutional consolidation.

The national perspective on higher education
I’ve just returned from the American Council on Education’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C., which included meetings of ACE’s Women’s Network. The experience gave me a great opportunity to assess how our work here at SPSU is also playing out on the national higher-education scene.
