Basics of D2L

Location: CTE Computer Classroom (H-202) Prerequisites: None

This hands-on workshop will provide faculty with the need to know information about D2L. As well as, familiarize them with the D2L environment and processes.

Participants will be able to:

  • Login to the D2L environment
  • Navigate the D2L environment/layout
  • Distinguish between the Homepage and Course Homepage
  • Upload a Syllabus and other documents using the Manage Files tool
  • Import and copy course components from different course offerings
  • Locate/identify banner and created courses

Content Tool

Location: CTE Flexible Classroom Prerequisites: Instructor at SPSU

In this hands-on workshop we will explore the file management structure of GeorgiaVIEW D2L. We will also use the Content tool to populate course materials ranging from electronic documents to course tools.

Participants will be able to:

  • Upload, manage, and create files with the Manage Files tool
  • Use best practices for managing files
  • Create Learning Modules
  • Add files and other content items to Learning Modules
  • Implement some best practices for building your course structure

Dropbox Tool

This hands-on workshop will introduce faculty to the Dropbox tool. This tool is used to give students a place to submit course work and other documents.

Participants will be able to:

  • Access the Dropbox tool
  • Create and manage a dropbox
  • Create and manage grade items in the Grades tool
  • Evaluate and grade dropbox submissions

GoToTraining for Synchronous Communication

Location: CTE Flexible Classroom (H-202) Prerequisites: Instructor at SPSU

This two-hour, hands-on workshop provides the learner with the information necessary to begin using GoToTraining for online course delivery. This workshop will also include the pedagogical functions for improving faculty-to-student interaction, student-to-student interaction, and maintaining a synchronous connection with students on a regular basis. This workshop will also provide examples—like adding a guest-speaker to an online meeting—that illustrate ways to enhance your online course.

Participants will be able to:

  • Obtain an account, and login to the system
  • Schedule a training session
  • Create a reoccurring training session
  • Upload a PowerPoint and other training materials
  • Manage a training session
  • Upload a recorded session to the CDN

Understanding and Applying Bloom’s Taxonomy

In this hands-on workshop, we will take a close look at Bloom’s Taxonomy and how it contributes to composing measurable learning objectives. This workshop will also cover how to ensure alignment between the course objectives, modular objectives, assessments and course content.

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify the correct verbs for the different knowledge and cognitive dimensions when composing learning objectives
  • Compose learning objectives that following the ABCD format
  • Review their courses to check for alignment between objectives, assessment activities, and content
