Project selection and management, team dynamics, cost of quality, and capturing the voice of the customer and project closure are studied. A wide variety of statistical analysis techniques are taught using lecture and hands-on Minitab computer exercises. Topics include probability, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, ANOVA, regression, Chi-squared tests, control charts, process capability and design of experiments. Lean topics include Kaizen Event Planning, Changeover Reduction, Value Stream Mapping, and Mistake Proofing. To earn the certificate, students must attend all scheduled sessions and pass the Black Belt exam. In addition, students must complete a Six Sigma project within 9 months of completing the course. The instructor will lead one-on-one project coaching sessions at the end of each class day to help students craft their problem and goal statements.
