JOINT
ENROLLMENT
Introduction
Southern Polytechnic
State
University welcomes and invites all qualified Juniors and Seniors to
participate
in its exceptional academic program that offers small classes,
individual
attention from instructors, and the opportunity to take core classes to
fulfill college requirements. Students may also complete the
final
CPC requirements for English ,Social Sciences and/or Math and receive
dual
credit. Students may also apply for University Honors courses if they
qualify

Criteria
Be at
least 16 years
old and currently enrolled in high school.
Have a
high school
academic GPA of at least 3.0 in courses used to satisfy
the 16
College Preparatory
Curriculum (CPC) requirements (excludes electives
and weighted
grades).
Be Juniors
or Seniors
on track to complete a college-prep diploma in high
school with
proper
accreditation recognized by the University System of
Georgia.
To receive
dual credit,
have minimum test scores as follows for the SAT OR the
ACT:
SAT
Math 530*
AND
Verbal 530*
*(Students with a
500 score
can be admitted to SPSU but will not qualify for dual credit)
ACT
Math 22*
AND
English 23*
*(Students with a
score
of 21 can be admitted to SPSU but will not qualify for dual
credit.)
Be current
in immunizations
Have a
letter of permission
from parents

Application Requirements:
- Apply by
bringing or sending
your application to the Admissions Office (you may also apply on line
at
www.spsu.edu):

- Complete an
SPSU
application.
Be sure to sign and date.
- A
non-refundable
$20.00 processing
fee.
- Provide an
official copy of
high school transcripts in a sealed envelope from the high school or
mailed
from the high school.
- Provide an
official copy of
SAT or ACT score report. (Student score reports are not accepted.)
- Provide
written
permission from
parents.
- Provide a
certificate of immunization
(certificate must include month, day, year of two measles, mumps,
rubella
shots given after the applicant’s first birthday and be signed by a
physician).
If born or
educated outside
the United States, you must present the original
documents certifying
U.S.
citizenship or immigration/non-immigrant status
(resident, alien
card, naturalization
certificate, U.S. passport).

Costs/Fees
The Joint
Enrollment program is currently funded by the HOPE scholarship program.
Students should apply for this through their high school counselor.
Students should get an ACCEL for from their counselor, choose courses,
and have the counselor sign the form. Students should then take the
ACCEL form to the Joint Enrollment Advisor for course selection,
registration, and further processing of the form through Financial
Aid. ACCEL forms are available on www.gsfc.org.

Grades
Final grades for
SPSU Joint
Enrollment students are recorded as letter
grades. To receive
college
credit, students normally must complete courses with a "C"
or better grade.
