Episode 2 - Making a Solar Cell
In this episode of The Energy Hunter, we visit Dr. Deidra Hodges and her students as she explores new thin-film technology for solar cell fabrication. While silicon is the dominant material for making solar cells today, research efforts all across the world have been focusing on using different materials in an effort to bring down the costs. Most of these new technologies are using materials that are very toxic and potentially harmful for the environment, but Dr. Hodges is exploring the use of earth abundant materials that are non toxic. Come with us into the lab as we see how they are progressing.
