Communications

SPSU Police Communications serves the campus community 24 hours a day all year. The primary responsibility of communications personnel is to dispatch SPSU Police and other emergency personnel to calls of police assistance, fire, rescue, and other emergency medical requests for assistance.

Duties of the SPSU Police communication staff include:

-- Perform front desk duties for SPSU Police Department

-- Answer multiple line phone system

-- Track officer activity using ARMS Computer Aided Dispatch system

-- Monitor multiple radio frequencies

-- Monitor campus fire and burglary alarm systems

-- Monitor Emergency Call Box system

-- Inquire and enter information into National/Georgia Crime Information Center databases

-- Monitor severe weather notification system/general weather conditions

-- Send emergency notification messages to the campus community via Hornet Alert and Emergency Public Address system

-- Monitor campus video recording systems

-- Monitor campus access control systems
